Longhorn cowfish

Its body resembles a squashed box. Its scales are replaced by bony plates, making its body very rigid. Its yellow body is dotted with blue spots, and its head is adorned with lines, where it bears distinctive horn-like protrusions. Due to its box-like body, it is a poor swimmer and relies instead on its strong armor and spines. It is most commonly found on muddy or sandy substrates. Adults are shy and live alone, while juveniles often form small groups. When young, they frequently inhabit the brackish waters of river estuaries. Their primary food consists of bottom-dwelling invertebrates and worms, which they dislodge from the sand using a jet of water expelled from their mouths.
