Bluering angelfish

The patterns of young and adult animals are completely different; while the young have white vertical stripes running down their dark blue bodies, the sexually mature animals have royal blue curved transverse stripes on their dark golden-brown bodies. Researchers have determined that the reason for this difference in pattern is that adult territorial individuals do not recognize juveniles as rivals, thereby increasing the juveniles’ chances of survival. In the wild, it feeds mainly on sponges, tunicates, and algae. In aquarium conditions, it quickly adapts to frozen foods and also readily consumes various vegetables and fruits.
