A small fish found in the shallow regions of coral reefs. It actively defends its territory and will even chase away larger fish. It is omnivorous but prefers to eat plankton. During the breeding season, they pair up, but the male cares for the eggs afterward. Its lifespan is 4–5 years. It is a popular aquarium fish, but its territorial behavior can cause problems.
